The historic headquarters of INA, an imposing building inaugurated in central via Veneto in Rome in 1927, represents one of the first prototypes of office buildings in Italy.

In compliance with the regulations imposed by the Superintendents, the redevelopment project by the Scandurra studio takes its first steps by considering the original designs of the Milanese architect Carlo Broggi in order to adapt the spaces of the historic building to the needs and requirements of contemporary work environments.

The intervention aims to clarify and simplify the internal layout of the building, freeing it from all the accumulations that have occurred over time and restoring the internal courtyard, the centerpiece of the original project.

The reorganisation of the positioning of the cores and fixtures that overlook the internal courtyard has favoured a visual and physical permeability of the building, made possible by the design of a skylight.

The intervention on the former INA building also frees the sixth floor from the obstructions that occupied the panoramic terrace and guarantees the optimization of the building with the achievement of environmental sustainability certifications (LEED Gold and BREAAM – very good).
