Created for Milan Design Week 2022, Re-Future is an installation designed to highlight the luminous products of iGuzzini Spa. In the courtyard of Via Brera 5, various emblematic objects of a television set were arranged. Cameras, screens, and lights are the key elements to recognize in order to feel immersed in an imaginary world rooted in the years of the Economic Boom, when Carosello advertised the finest products of emerging Italian design, and Raffaella Carrà’s performances were all the rage. The setup was conceived to enhance Italian Echoes, the re-edition project of iconic lamps from iGuzzini’s historical archive. For the reissue of the Polsino lamp by Gio Ponti, Zurigo by Luigi Massoni, Nitia by Rodolfo Bonetto, and Sorellaby Harvey iGuzzini, a specially crafted wooden base was created to symbolize the company’s design roots and the timeless driving force that the early iGuzzini productions still emanate.

Beyond recalling the brand’s origins and reviving historic pieces from the collection, the installation narrates the complexity of new projects, defining a space that does away with traditional lamps yet is animated by the energizing presence of light.

“The installation in Brera is the construction of a rebus that each visitor is invited to decipher. Once I have put together the content and challenges of a project, I feel the need to present them in a way that keeps them open and undefined. The setup for Re-Future aims to be a device capable of activating the imagination of a backstage where past, present, and future intertwine.”
