RE-FUTURE IGUZZINI

“L’installazione a Brera è la costruzione di un rebus che ciascun visitatore è chiamato a decifrare. Una volta messi insieme i contenuti e le problematiche di un progetto, sento il bisogno di esporli in modo che rimangano aperti e da definire. L’allestimento per Re-Future vuole essere un dispositivo in grado di attivare l’immaginario di un backstage dove storia passata, presente e futura si intrecciano.”

Created for Milan Design Week 2022, Re-Future is an installation designed to highlight the luminous products of iGuzzini Spa. In the courtyard of Via Brera 5, various emblematic objects of a television set were arranged. Cameras, screens, and lights are the key elements to recognize in order to feel immersed in an imaginary world rooted in the years of the Economic Boom, when Carosello advertised the finest products of emerging Italian design, and Raffaella Carrà’s performances were all the rage. The setup was conceived to enhance Italian Echoes, the re-edition project of iconic lamps from iGuzzini’s historical archive. For the reissue of the Polsino lamp by Gio Ponti, Zurigo by Luigi Massoni, Nitia by Rodolfo Bonetto, and Sorellaby Harvey iGuzzini, a specially crafted wooden base was created to symbolize the company’s design roots and the timeless driving force that the early iGuzzini productions still emanate.

Beyond recalling the brand’s origins and reviving historic pieces from the collection, the installation narrates the complexity of new projects, defining a space that does away with traditional lamps yet is animated by the energizing presence of light.
