A meeting point between the Teatro alla Scala and its city, Milan: the Bookshop of Teatro alla Scala is designed to enhance the intimate nature of listening and viewing. Like a magic box, this small-scale space takes on different qualities through variations in lighting and overlapping perspectives. By dematerializing boundaries, its purpose is to elevate the content, creating an emotional setting that evokes the theatricality of the venue.

The layout guides visitors through a compelling, immersive musical sequence: a bookstore serves as the entrance backdrop, leading towards the door that opens into the foyer, while a monitor accompanies visitors heading to the listening room on the lower floor.

The large reception desk provides control over all ground-floor areas, which multiply through the reflections of white glass and colored mirrors that define the space. Despite the simple and rigorous hierarchy of the exhibition, the emotional intensity of the setting is heightened by the changing colored lights, aligning with the phenomenon of musical synesthesia.
