The combined cycle thermal power plant of Gruppo Sorgenia is set in the valley near Termoli, where the production facilities of the industrial consortium of the city are located. The new plant is included in a green atoll that dilutes its presence in the landscape. The surrounding hills enter in the settlement, creating a strong relationship with the landscape that should condition any future intervention in the area.
As landmarks, visual focus and territorial references, the chimneystacks create a precise hierarchy of the area by making legible the distribution of the production facilities. The architecture of the plant acquires more and more value, and doesn’t hide the technological characteristics of the construction but rather wants to integrate them into the landscape and to exploit the plant scale potential. With: Arch.
