The project area borders a large, unstructured open space that was once home to Milan’s general market. The potential value of this site is enhanced by the empty spaces and the rear façades of the buildings that face the street. Added value is given by private gardens, playgrounds, a school immersed in a green area, and trees within that tend to obscure existing buildings with their foliage and reveal the open and empty space within the closed block. The main theme is individual elements added together to make a whole. The residence are concentrated into four towers. Each building stratifies residential units that are similar to single-family homes, with deep, double height terraces, verandas, and bow-windows that, given their height, imitate the relationship to open space that is typical of the villa.
